HELP US RAISE FUNDS FOR THE CENTRAL ALGOMA REGION!
We Need Your Help! The Central Algoma Freshwater Coalition has been awarded a $10,000 grant from Shell Oil, enabling us to continue our work to preserve the Stobie Creek watershed.
We're now thrilled to announce the opportunity to be awarded $25,000 through a special project called "Fuelling Change," sponsored by Shell Oil. This project, which you can view on Shell's website, http://www.fuellingchange.com/ , showcases a vast array of environmental projects throughout Canada, including our project, called The Stobie Creek Watershed Restoration Project, HERE.
The Shell project will enable CAFC to work closely with landowners to improve water quality of Stobie Creek Watershed, including Caribou Lake. Caribou Lake is one of many remote Northern Ontario lakes with toxic-producing cyanobacteria blooms that taint drinking and recreational water, posing a serious risk to human health as well as the environment. The key benefit of this project will be improved water quality and habitat protection. Not only will there be healthier and more productive ecosystems, but also safe water for consumption and recreational activities such as swimming.
Shell will choose grant recipients based upon the number of votes each project garners.
Naturally, we'd love to have everyone vote for this project. To vote, you need to register with a Canada address. So for those who live in the U.S., you'll need to use your camp address.
